I often wonder if part of it is where specifically we are in Japan. We’re pretty rural and deeply immersed in the culture. I’ve heard from others who’ve been in other parts of japan that they prefer the other duty stations - both okinawa and Yokosuka to Sasebo.
We also just got back from a trip to South Korea and I realized I actually prefer japan over the 2 lol but wrote this before my trip.
oof yes. as someone raising a family overseas (also not by choice), I feel all these things too.
