Charlotte Rose, we can’t wait to meet you
In March 2024, my older son (2.5), said “we’re going to get my sister” as we were driving to our workout group. I had no idea what he was talking about, and brushed it off.
He would continue to mention his baby sister every few months throughout the year. We had no intention of giving him an additional sibling until baby brother turned two.
November 2024, I picked the boys up from a new babysitter we were trying. When we got home I asked George if he had fun. He says “yes, they had a baby sister. My baby sister is in your belly right now”. I gave a disinterested “okay” and moved on to cooking dinner and evening routine.
Roughly three weeks later I found out I was pregnant. We nicknamed baby “oopsie” until we found out gender and picked a name, since she was indeed an oopsie. I ovulated early and didn’t realize it.
Throughout the first trimester we would ask my oldest if he thought the baby in mommy’s belly was a brother or sister. Nine times out of ten he would say it was a sister.
When we were waiting for the genetic screening results (which include gender), I asked George what baby sisters name was? He said he didn’t know. So I asked him “is it Elizabeth?” And he fumbles the name in his mouth, trying to say it, and says no. “Is it Emily?” And he quickly responds no. “Is it Charlotte?” Yea! Yes! Baby Charlie! He immediately exclaims.
The next day the screening resulted saying gender consistent with female. Today at my anatomy scan, they confirmed gender is a girl.
George knew well before the rest of us that he would be getting a baby sister, and even picked her name.
Charlotte Rose Cook coming late July/early August.
So exciting!!
